TWENTY-SEVENTEEN

Oh hi! Welcome. Let’s get cozy, let’s get to know each other a little bit better, let’s be friends. I’m so happy you’re here, 2017. Let’s talk about the next 365 days, shall we? Please be kind to me and those around me. Please let some moments pass quickly (swiftly, swiftly), and let others linger (you’ll know which ones). I promise I won’t have my face glued to my phone when you put on a beautiful sunset, or when I’m having a cat-cuddle that’s just so. I’ll try to be kinder to myself—to give myself ... REFLECTING ON 2016

This year hasn’t been my favorite (has it been anyone’s?) so I’m extra excited about 2017. I don’t believe in making New Years’ resolutions (you can choose to do or not do something any day of the year), but I like to spend the last week of December thinking about how my year went, what worked, and what didn’t. ON FINDING MY IDENTITY AS A BLOGGER

{me: a self portrait – taken in Galle, Sri Lanka, April 2016} It’s easy to look at someone’s presence on social media and assume you know what their life is like. I started this blog in ... Read More

HOW I PREP FOR THE FARMER’S MARKET

farmer's market prep I am happiest in the kitchen when the farmer’s market is up and running from mid-November to mid-April. I love waking up early on the weekends and going to the market to pick out fresh, organic produce directly from the farmers. I love grabbing a coffee and a sandwich (or pastry) and sitting in the warm Dubai-winter sun. What I love the most is having delicious, fresh produce to cook with—it’s a welcome change from a lot of the limp supermarket offerings during the summer. Here’s what I do to get ready so that I ca ... Read More

POTATO, TOMATO, AND FETA FRITTATA

frittata-3 I’ve been home sick for most of the week, so my time has been spent (mostly) napping, drinking chamomile tea with lots of Manuka honey, and having meals made for me by my wonderful (and wonderfully patient) husband. I’ve also been catching up on my shows (OMG Scandal, who else is watching?) and reading, reading, reading. I started to feel better yesterday, and wanted to cook something nice for lunch (and to be perfectly honest for the blog, because I miss you guys!) but there was hardly anything in the fridge because ...
